Why Handing Over the Keys Is My Favorite Part of Real Estate

I was recently sitting in my car waiting to meet a client so I could hand her the keys to her brand new home that had just closed that day. Moments like that always make me pause and reflect on why I love what I do.

After nearly six years in real estate, there are definitely parts of the job that are easier and parts that are more challenging, just like any career. But without a doubt, my absolute favorite part of real estate is closing day. It is the moment when everything comes together and I get to hand someone the keys to their new home.

The Moment Everything Becomes Real

The journey to buying a home is often filled with showings, phone calls, texts, paperwork, and plenty of decisions. By the time closing day arrives, we have usually spent a lot of time together navigating the process.

When the paperwork is signed and the keys are finally ready, it is such a special moment. Walking into the home together, seeing the excitement on my client’s face, and taking that first photo in their new space is something I never get tired of.

Those moments are why I love real estate.

More Than Just a Transaction

One of the things I often joke about with my clients is that it feels like I make all these new friends through my job. Throughout the process we talk often, spend time touring homes together, and celebrate milestones along the way.

Then suddenly the deal closes, I hand over the keys, and it feels a little strange to just walk away.

After helping someone through such an important life moment, it is hard not to feel connected. I truly enjoy getting to know my clients and hearing their stories. I care about where they end up and how they are doing in their new home.

When Clients Become Friends

The truth is that many of my clients become friends. After spending so much time together during the home buying process, it is natural to build a real connection.

Sometimes I even find myself missing those daily conversations, the house tours, and the excitement of finding the perfect home together.

So if you are one of my past clients and I randomly text you to check in or see how you are doing, just know that it comes from a genuine place. Once you have worked with me, you really do become one of my people.

Why I Love This Job

Real estate is not just about contracts and closing deals. It is about helping people find a place where life will happen. Homes are where families grow, memories are made, and new chapters begin.

Being trusted to guide someone through that process is something I never take for granted.

And every time I hand someone the keys to their new home, it reminds me exactly why I chose this career in the first place.
